China

Ancient China is one of the earliest countries of human civilization recorded. The Chinese were also one of the few who invented their own form of writing. Others who had their own forms of writing were Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, the Maya Civilization, the Mesopotamia, and the Indus Valley Civilization. The Chinese writing is the longest form of continuously used written language.

China has cultures and states which date back to more than 4 million years. The four great inventions which China is given credit for is paper, the compass, gunpowder, and printing. The Chinese Civil War caused a stalemate between China (also known as the People’s Republic of China) and the Republic of China. The PROC consists of the mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macaw, and the ROC consists of Taiwan and they control the Island of Taiwan and some of the islands close to it.

Archaeologists have evidence that proves there were humans in China as early as 2.24 million to 250,000 years ago. They have found fossils in a cave in Zhoukoudian (which is near Beijing) which have dated back as far as 300,000 to 550,000 years ago. Their earliest findings were that which showed a fully modern human existence in Liujiang County, Guangxi. A cranium (skull) was found and dated to be from approximately 67,000 years ago. A partial skeleton was also found near Minatogawa, in Okinawa, Japan, and it is believed to have existed about 18,250 to 16,600 years ago.

It is believed that the first dynasty in China was the Xia dynasty. This was just considered to be just a myth until scientists found early bronze-age sites at Erlitou, in the Henan Province. Since then there have been urban sites uncovered as well as bronze implements and other artifacts to substantiate their beliefs.

There have been many different dynasties in China over the years and it is reported that there were over 25 million people died during the Manchu Conquest in the Ming Dynasty, between 1616 and 1644. The Qing Dynasty lasted until 1912 and it was the last dynasty in China. There was two opium wars with Britain during the Qing Dynasty and this caused the Emporer of China to lose some control. The Taiping Civil War was one of the wars and it went from 1851 until 1862. This war was partly influenced by a misrepresentation of Christianity. It seems that Hong Xiuquan (the Emperor of China at the time) believed that he was the brother of Jesus Christ and the son of God. This war was one of the bloodiest wars in the history of humans.
